Nehanda Black Women’s Organisation has provided a range of successful social, cultural and educational activities since it started in 1994. Initially, group discussions were held weekly on subjects such as education, journalism, arts, black history and black women’s health.
Discussions were always of a high educational standard and quality, presented within a social and cultural context as it affects the wider Black community and in some cases with a particular Black female perspective.
Other projects throughout the past have included carrying out health research relating to Black women; organising an ‘Images & Voices’ — ‘Contributions of Black Women, Past & Present’ Photography Exhibition as part of Enfield’s ‘Under One Sun’ arts festival.
We organise and facilitate a range of specialist activities and projects, for example:
Health awareness / promotion seminars
Personal Development Workshops
Career Development Seminars
Business Seminars
Parenting Courses
Counselling Sessions
Black History Courses & Events
Social events e.g. poetry evenings & quiz nights
Our activities aim to build participants’ skills, knowledge and confidence. Childcare costs are available to parents attending our activities (call 020 8803 9397 for further information)
